The NBA All-Star Weekend has ended, and LeBron James has once again claimed another team victory. Team LeBron defeated Team Giannis 157-155 after an action packed weekend in Chicago.

LeBron’s squad included stars from across the league including Anthony Davis and the NBA All-Star MVP Kawhi Leonard. Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks also headlined his own team, and led scoring with twenty-five points.

Anthony Davis, of the Los Angeles Lakers, made the winning free throw to secure the “W” for Team LeBron. “I told my team I was going to miss the first one to put a little more pressure on myself here at home”, Davis said regarding his winning free throw. Davis grew up on the South Side of Chicago and played for Perspectives Charter School in Chicago.

NBA All-Star weekend also consisted of multiple events including the Celebrity All-Star game, and the NBA Rising Stars game, which was headlined by Trae Young and Luka Doncic. In addition thos this, Saturday night  included the Taco Bell Skills Challenge, Mountain Dew 3-Point Contest, and AT&T Slam Dunk Contest.

The Taco Bell Skills Challenge is an event that consists of various obstacles for the participants to display their talents. The competitors face-off in a bracket and try to finish before their competitor and advance in the tournament. Last year, Jayson Tatum, of the Boston Celtics, won the skills challenge, defeating Trae Young in the championship round. This year Bam Adebayo, of the Miami Heat, defeated Domantas Sabonis in the championship round to take the win.

In the Mountain Dew 3-Point Contest, Buddy Hield of the Sacramento Kings won after defeating Devin Booker in the championship round. Hield out-scored Booker 27-26.

Regarding the AT&T Slam Dunk Contest, Derrick Jones Jr claimed the victory over Aaron Gordon and others.

For this year’s edition of the NBA All-Star Weekend, Team LeBron wore blue jerseys with the number “2”, in honor of Kobe Bryant’s daughter Gianna, and Team Giannis wore “24”, in honor of Kobe. On each jersey was a patch with nine stars that signified each victim of the crash that took the NBA legend’s life. James said that “[Kobe’s] present was felt.” Kobe Bryant was an eighteen time All-Star in his twenty year career.
