Spooky season has arrived ladies and gentlemen, and you know what that means right? Scary movies!! There are so many scary movies out there that you can watch, but there are only a few movies that can truly give you a  fright. The Shining, The Crooked Man, and Halloween are a few frightening movies to watch if you are looking for a fright.

The Shining is a horror movie based off the book, The Shining by Stephen King. If you are familiar with Stephen King, then you already know you are setting yourself up for a fright you have never had before. According to Kundan Kaiser, The Shinning  is “A perfect example of psychological horror. Leaves you with too many questions, and the fear and terror lingers afterwards. One of the best horrors, probably the best psychological horror.” The Shining came out in 1980, quickly becoming one of the best movies of all time. Even to this day, it’s an extremely well known movie. The Shinning is about a writer named Jack Torrance, who has recently become the winter caretaker of the isolated Overlook Hotel in Colorado. He is hoping to cure his writer’s block. He settles in along with his wife, Wendy, and his son, Danny. Danny has recently been plagued by psychic premonitions. As Jack’s writing goes nowhere and Danny’s visions become more and more disturbingImage result for the shining, Jack discovers the hotel’s darkest secrets and begins to unravel into a homicidal maniac, hell-bent on terrorizing his family. Now if this doesn’t interest you at all then you should try the movie The Crooked Man.

The Crooked Man is a horrifying movie for anyone looking to spill their popcorn. it was released in 2016, and it was directed by Jesse Holland and starred Angelique Rivera, Cameron Jebo, and Michael Jai White.The movie  starts off as a girl’s typical slumber party, but everything takes a turn for the worse when twelve-year-old Olivia is blamed for the horrific and mysterious death of her friend, after singing a song that summons a demonic figure known as ‘The Crooked Man’. As Olivia returns to her hometown six years later, a string of unusual deaths leads Olivia to believe that she’s still being terrorized by whatever she saw that fateful night when she was a kid. Once you sing the rhyme, everyone in the house is cursed to die by his hands in a very painful death. Let’s just say, this is not the way you plan to die. If you’re still skeptical about this movie and want to watch something else, then Halloween may be the movie you been looking for this whole time.

Now there are a lot of scary movie you can watch by a few pushes of buttons, but only some will truly make you have nightmares. Halloween is one of these movies. According to Jared Andrews, “Halloween is considered an ageless horror masterpiece.”  Halloween is the first movie of this spooky franchise with 10 more to follow. On Halloween night the police were called to 43 Lampkin Ln. only to discover that 15 year old Judith Myers has been stabbed to death by her 6 year-old brother, Michael Myers. No one knows, nor wants to find out, what will happen on October 31st besides Myers’ psychiatrist, Dr. Loomis. He knows Michael is coming back to Haddonfield, but by the time the town realizes it, it’ll be too late for many people. Now this is a horrifying mystery you are going to enjoy trying to crack.
