Most people dress up on the night of October 31st, which is called Halloween, just for one night to pretend they’re something they’re not. Most girls and boys dress up as police officers, bunny rabbits, and zombies to try to make themselves look scary or funny.

My freshman year of high school, my friend Tiffany and I were invited to a Halloween gathering at some run-down house that was in the middle of the country and the middle of what seemed to be nowhere. My friends and I got ready and put on our costumes to show off our new look. When we arrived, people were everywhere, wearing masks, bunny ears, cat ears, and many more different costumes. Later, we heard a loud bang as the music stopped and people began to look around and wonder what had happened. The next thing I know my friends and I heard people screaming and running towards us with a look that frightened us all.

We didn’t know what to do so we ran alongside the rest of everyone else, concerned for our lives. I looked back to see what was causing all the commotion, and the next thing I knew I heard screaming. That was when I knew my friend Tiffany and I had to leave that house as fast as possible to avoid harm. We proceeded to the car and hurried and got in, thinking we were safe.

We began to pull off the road and down the high way as fast as possible. “Should I call the police?”, Tiffany asked as she was shaking and trying to hold the steering wheel as close as possible. “I overheard someone calling them as it all went down, as long as we’re away from this house, we’re safe”, I said as we both began to catch our breath. The next thing I knew I heard noise in the back seat of the car. I looked back and all I saw was a ski mask. Many things began to race through my mind as I heard Tiffany screaming.

In the movies you see many people have flashbacks from their life right before they’re about to die. I began to have my life flash before my eyes. He told us to pull into the nearest exit and Tiffany was so terrified that she listened to every word he said. As soon as we pulled into the nearest gas station he jumped. At first, I didn’t know what happened, but as soon as I looked back, I saw that Tiffany was gone. He must have taken her.

I began to feel light headed and couldn’t see straight and right after that moment everything went black. I woke up scared and alone in the hospital wondering what had happened and where Tiffany was. I asked the doctors and they gave me a sad stare, the nurse sat down right beside my bed and told me Tiffany had disappeared. My whole body froze as I began to cry, The nurse stepped out of the room for 15 minutes, came and checked on me as I fell asleep.

When I woke up it was the next day. I was laying down staring at the wall, as a figure walked across the hall and it looked exactly like the man in the ski mask. I rang the emergency button as 4 nurses came rushing into the room. I yelled, “The killer is in the building!” They all looked at me like I was crazy and just told me my medicine might make me have hallucinations. As the days passed and turned into nights, I was finally released from the hospital and taken home. Every night from that night on, I see shadows and what seems to look like ghosts in the hallways and corners of my house. It seems I will always see the ghost that haunted my life and I don’t think that memory will ever go away.
